ACE Drama Group

The ACE group started out with collaboration between OutsideEdge Theatre Company and Community Options. OutsideEdge was asked to attend an event that offered new approaches to mental wellbeing to service users. On the day a workshop was held and we then performed a small piece of Theatre that use interaction as a mean of engaging the audience into discussion around the topic of mental heath professionals.

The day was deemed a success and arrangement for the ACE group to be set up was put in place.

The group is made up of people from all different backgrounds, predominantly Community Options service users who find the need to have an outlet for there creativity. The workshop is free and open to everyone, passed experience off drama is not necessary just a willing, open and trustworthy approach to life is all that is asked. We encourage people to bring along friends and family as well as encouraging carers to be involved in the creative process.

Our aim is to help and encourage each other through drama, to be more open confident and relaxed in everyday situations. This is done through games and techniques that focus on the group as a whole allowing every member of the group an equal say in the work we create.
