I'm working with Steve Cooksley and Neil Springham to help develop the music side of the DevelopARTS network.

I'm a volunteer at the Bromley Music Group (BMG) which runs weekly on a Tuesday. I mainly play Bass Guitar and Sing (though not always sucessfully doing both together). I play a bit of drums and a bit on the Banjo. I'm willing to try any instrument to get a noise out of it. I have joined the DevelopArts team as a volunteer, aiming to connect all the brilliant things we have going on in south east London to do with the arts and mental health.

I'm really interested in how art and looking at (found) objects can be used to help and understand ourselves.

I studied Fine Art at Aberystwyth, Wales.

Artists Statement:

Why do we position things together, collect objects that we don’t need and or create sculptures? I am trying to unlock the unconscious and explore the mind. Closely looking at why this is so hard in the first place. Why do we hide our true selves to help us fit in with society or at least think we do.

There is not a direct answer to what my art is representing. If I could say that then why construct the art and not just record myself. Art is my better voice and is exploring something that words cannot directly portray.

I think it’s far more difficult to produce beauty and far easier to shock in art. Therefore I have tried to create something that is not only pleasant to see hear or touch but will also connect with the inner self.

As art moves into relational aesthetics, artists are achieving a solid and informative conclusion from their work. With wanting to help others through art therapy these ideas are perfect for this changing time. I’m best when the materials I’m using are found or given. Working with the chosen space, from a matchbox to a field. Enjoying and learning form the environment and people I’m working with.

Hello everyone!

I am a Trustee of Magpie Dance and also Head of Communications at Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust.

So what is this Big Swim all about?
Basically I am swimming in the sea in a different place in Great Britain in every month during 2010 to raise funds for Magpie Dance.
